The term iMSPO stands for igus® Mobile Shore Power Outlet. iMSPO is a self-propelled socket for the shore power connection of container ships. The system is positioned at the berth and is installed on the quay above the fender system. This system includes a ready-to-connect and fully tested readychain® assembly for powering container ships.
The system complies with the following standards and guidelines:
Flexible availability of the readychain® iMSPO at the berth
The combination of igus® rol e-chain® and special chainflex® medium-voltage cables enables the system to travel on port sections up to 400 meters long. Because of the small bend radii of the chainflex® medium-voltage cables, the system can be compactly designed and installed in a space-saving way.
Therefore, shore power is available over the entire berth. Regardless of the different ship sizes, the connection can always be positioned where it is needed depending on the berthing position of the ship. The iMSPO is conveniently operated with a remote control.

Every module and system undergoes intensive tests at the igus® test facility for function and service life. The development of the igus® shore power system continuously incorporates the experiences gained from successfully completed projects. Close cooperation with our customers, enables igus® to map the conditions and requirements on the test field as realistically as possible.
The Mongstad offshore base is one of the most frequently used bases in Norway. The ships change twice a day in order to be loaded with equipment for the offshore platforms in the North Sea. The base operates around the clock and is handled by a reliable, robust and flexible system for supplying shore power from igus. A harnessed e-spool is integrated in a three-meter-long container that can be handled by forklifts to position the system along the various berths.
